The Process
The Journey of a Commissioned Piece
Your Story
Told in Metal and Stone
A commissioned piece of jewellery is a deeply personal process; one that begins with an idea, a feeling, or a story you want to hold onto.
Whether you’re creating something entirely new or reimagining a sentimental piece, I will guide you through a collaborative and thoughtful process from start to finish, shaping your ideas into something beautifully considered, wearable, and entirely your own.
Each piece is made slowly and intentionally, with care, precision, and a focus on creating something that will be treasured for a lifetime.
The Consultation
Step 1
Every project begins with a conversation. Once you’ve reached out, I’ll ask you to share a few initial thoughts about your ideas before we arrange a relaxed video call. This is our opportunity to explore your vision in more detail, whether you have a clear concept or just a starting point.
We’ll discuss inspiration, materials, and budget, and I’ll guide you through what’s possible.
If you decide to move forward, a £150 design deposit secures your commission and allows me to begin developing your piece.
Design & Conception
Step 2
This is where your ideas begin to take shape. Depending on your brief, we may build a shared moodboard or move straight into initial sketches. I will develop a range of concepts for you, which we refine together until we land on something that feels just right.
Once a direction is chosen, I create a detailed technical drawing alongside a hand-rendered illustration, giving you a clear vision of the final piece.
At this stage, we finalise materials and design details before I provide a full quote for the piece. A 50% deposit is then taken to begin the making process.
The Creation
Step 3
Your piece is then brought to life in my workshop.
Each stage is completed by hand using traditional techniques (from forming and casting to stone setting and finishing), allowing me to maintain complete control over the quality and detail of the final piece.
I’ll share updates along the way so you can follow the process as your jewellery takes shape.
As every piece is made individually, timeframes can vary, but most commissions are completed within approximately 6 weeks from final design. I prioritise care and craftsmanship over speed, ensuring each piece is finished to the highest standard.
Once complete, your jewellery is carefully finished, hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay Office, and professionally photographed.
Your piece will then be beautifully packaged and sent to you, ready to be worn, gifted, and cherished for years to come.
The remaining balance is due prior to dispatch.
