Molten Gold ring

This ring was designed as a quiet celebration of strength. A bold, textural piece intended to be worn every day as a reminder of resilience and everything it took to get here.

The brief was for a thumb ring that was both substantial and distinctive, yet still effortless to wear. Drawing on a selection of reference pieces, we refined the direction into something more organic and expressive, a design that feels rugged, tactile and entirely individual.

To bring this to life, I used the ancient technique of reticulation- a process dating back centuries, used by artisans as early as the ancient Egyptians. By repeatedly heating and cooling the gold, a fine layer of pure gold is brought to the surface, allowing the underlying metal to partially melt while the outer layer holds its form. The result is a beautifully unpredictable landscape of ripples and textures, formed in a moment that sits somewhere between precision and surrender.

No two pieces created in this way can ever be the same. Each mark, each fold, is entirely unique. Shaped by heat, timing and instinct.

The finished ring has a quiet strength to it. Bold without being loud, textured without being heavy; a piece that feels grounding, confident and deeply personal.
